City of Clearlake Grant Funds Available to Help with Water Bills

Exciting News! Released today in the City of Clearlake Newsletter
"The City of Clearlake has launched a new Utility Subsistence Payment Program to help residents who are struggling to pay their water utility bills. Although the City is not a water provider, we applied for and secured Community Development Block Grant funding only available to cities or counties.
“While we aren’t a water provider ourselves, we applied for the funding to benefit residents in Clearlake,” said City Manager Alan Flora. “That means no matter which agency provides their water service, residents who meet the qualifications can apply for funding.”
The program provides short-term financial assistance to low- and moderate-income households facing hardship, helping prevent water service shutoffs and supporting housing stability throughout the city.
Eligible households may receive up to $450 total, covering up to three consecutive months of water utility costs. Past-due balances may also be paid and count toward the assistance limit. All payments are made directly to residents’ water utility providers, ensuring funds are applied to resident bills as intended.
The program is expected to assist approximately 600 households and will operate for up to 24 months or until available funding is fully expended. Please read more and apply here and help us spread the word!" (cited from: City of Clearlake Email Newsblast 12/18/2025)
